User Involvement as a Catalyst for Collaborative Public Service Innovation

Abstract Innovation in public services is propelled by collaborations between actors, private and service users. A substantial literature has centered on the benefits of user involvement services, but how can stimulate collaborative innovation still largely unknown. This article develops tests a theoretical framework based combined effect (1) empowerment users, (2) specialized knowledge (3) absence hindering rules procedures. Data from 19 public–private eHealth five European countries, collected through 132 interviews 124 surveys, are analyzed fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis, results indicate that these partnerships influenced conditions, this also contingent roles users adopt process.
